Floating ropes

Floating ropes

Ok, what do you call those floating ropes in lakes and pools that mark off the proper swimming area? I'm pretty sure they're not called buoys...what are they called?

And whatever the thread title may imply, "floating ropes" is not an acceptable answer.

Every resource i've been to online refers to them as 'floating ropes' or 'lane dividers'...
