Good one Clauds!!! :D :D :D

Nice to get this interactivity back up and running - glad I stayed around here for so long now - really does feel like the Suede family is back here as has been said recently!!! :D

Was great that so many of us were all on at the same time yesterday and with so many of the 'old crew' coming back and the lovely newcomers too it is finally starting to feel like a 'proper' forum again....!!! :D

Unfortunately only 10 options are allowed... in fact I included Bernard solo to make it a nice and perfect 10 lol. Well, anyone stumbling upon Suede through M&B could just vote 'Bernard solo' I guess!

I miss an option: the pre-Suede era - the all famous demo clash and The Drowners.

However, I got into Suede with Suede. In fact, I got into Suede because of the sleeve of Animal Nitrate. I was in London back then visiting Virgin or HMV or Town Records - can't remember in detail. I saw the Animal Nitrate sleeve on display and thought: "hey... interesting...". I didn't buy it though.

Back home in the Netherlands I had a hard time explaining at the record shop that I was looking for a single with a white sleeve with some guy on it wearing a pigs mask. They came up with Pink Floyd's Animals (there's a pig, that's all the similarity). It was the pre-internet times back then (can you imagine?). Finally I found it and I was quite impressed.

But I really became a fan as of DMS. Introducing the band did the trick. Strange after all, as it is as un-Suede-ish as you can imagine.

I totally lost it with ANM though. I still don't like that album. It has to do with Brett's voice on it (sounds like he just woke up after a long night of whiskeys and B&H) and the ugly simplicity of songs. With Attitude it all came back, but then Suede gave up themselves...

@ Mark: I love your positivity and nobody should ever be abused for being positive about Suede on a Suede website. But the other way around goes as well: criticism is allowed as well and nobody should take offense.

Good stuff anyway Clauds!!!! :D

Very true Jan and thanks - and it is definitely great to have you back around here (me being positive again)... No and I agree I actually like the criticism too - helps to make interesting discussions and also intersting to see how much we differ in opinion on our most/least favourite things!!! :D

Oh and btw I love the 'Animal Nitrate' story!!! :D 8)

Always interesting to read these stories! I don't think you ever told me that story before, Jan.

I've told mine so many times before, but considering there are newbies here, I'll make that as an excuse for myself to indulge in telling it one more time 8)

It was just a regular day in 1996, I was lounging around in front of the telly as usual... suddenly the music video of Trash came up, it was really unlike anything I was listening to back then! The most vivid image that stayed with me from the video was the neon pink sofa, and how flamboyant Brett looked. Time seemed to slow down throughout the duration of the video, my attention was glued to it, and I still remember that feeling clearly until today: I knew I was hooked. The rest is history, and it won't be an exaggeration to say that they've been more than a band to me, they've changed my life (and myself) in many ways.

The best thing about this forum is that we can accept that we have different opinions and we don't kill each other for it!

I voted "Brett solo" and that is what it's about actually. I can't be a suede fan literally because suede were done when I discovered them. I am a Brett Anderson fan and adore his former work. suede way more than The Tears btw (except ANM - does ANYone love this album?)

maybe you read disco bunnys story how we got known to Brett in Tromso.

Love Is Dead was the first song ever I heard from him and it was love at first listen (and Brett was lust at first sight - i give in)... so the BA album was the first record I have ever listened to, understandable , I think and again. Loved it from the beginning, it is a great record! The next one was Coming Up, because Saturday Night was the most impressive song that evening (after Love Is Dead) and Coming Up has to be my absolutely fav suede album, the style, the craziness, the concreteness (right word) - i love good pop, (a-ha, Pet Shop Boys, teenager of the 80ies). i adore DMS and Sci-fi-lullabies for their artyness... but after Coming Up it's suede (the debut) which I love the most, it's naive and simply sweet and different.

in the end it is a fact that I simply connect way more to Bretts solo worj than to suede. can't help it, maybe it's age and stuff - don't know.

well... I was not much into music (apart from rod and some Frenchies)... my brother orked for a paper and had often free tickets... on 12th May 1995 he took me to the Arena Auditorium in Valencia... I was amazed... and 15 years after, I am still out of this world when I see him/them live.
