Suede announce new album and feature film 'Night Thoughts' - watch the trailer here
Indie band Suede have announced the release of their new album 'Night Thoughts'. Brett Anderson and co.'s new record - the follow up to 2013's 'Bloodsports' - will be released on January 22nd in conjunction with a feature film of the same name, which was directed by music photographer Roger Sargent and will be included as a bonus disc on the album's special edition version.
Sargent said of working with the band: "Suede and I have crossed paths a few times over the years. I sneaked onstage for their ‘93 Glastonbury show to get photos for NME... more recently I was asked directly to do some of the photography for the last album.
I was asked to pitch an idea for this film project... I really had no idea what they were wanting or expecting so I tried
to write in the least self-conscious way possible. The record deals with a lot of familial themes — life, death, love, anguish and despair; themes that are expanded upon in its visual companion, providing a study of how those elements affect
the human psyche. It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. The film starts with a man drowning in the waters of a deserted beach at night, as he fights for life, his mind plays out the events that lead him to be there.”

The tracklisting and trailer for the film can be seen below:

Side A:
1. When You Are Young
2. Outsiders

Suede Announce New Album Night Thoughts and Accompanying Film
In 2013, Suede returned from a long break with Bloodsports, their followup to 2002's A New Morning. Now, they've announced another record, along with an accompanying feature-length film. The album's called Night Thoughts (that's the art above) and it's out January 22, 2016. The film, directed by Roger Sargent, will be available on DVD as part of a special album package. Below, watch a trailer and check out the album tracklist.
Night Thoughts was recorded in London and Brussels with longtime producer Ed Buller. On November 13 and 14, Suede will perform the album in full at London Roundhouse while the film plays behind them.
Speaking about the film and album in a press release, Sargent said: The record deals with a lot of familial themes — life, death, love, anguish and despair; themes that are expanded upon in its visual companion, providing a study of how those elements affect
the human psyche. It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. Suede Announce New Album Night Thoughts
Peter Helman @_peterhelman | September 7, 2015 - 11:39 am
Britpop legends Suede have just announced a new album, Night Thoughts, their seventh studio LP and their second since reuniting in 2010. Night Thoughts will be out early next year, and it’s going to be accompanied by a feature-length film directed by Roger Sargent, which will be released on DVD in a special album package. As NME reports, the album features a full string section, and it was recorded in London and Brussels with long-time producer Ed Buller. The band will premiere the record by performing the entire thing live 11/13 and 11/14 at London’s Roundhouse while the film plays behind them. This is what Sargent had to say about the film in a press release: I was asked to pitch an idea for this film project … I really had no idea what they were wanting or expecting so I tried to write in the least self-conscious way possible. The record deals with a lot of familial themes — life, death, love, anguish and despair; themes that are expanded upon in its visual companion, providing a study of how those elements affect ?the human psyche. It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. The film starts with a man drowning in the waters of a deserted beach at night, as he fights for life, his mind plays out the events that lead him to be there.
Watch a trailer for the film and check out the album’s tracklist below.
Tracklist:
01 “When You Are Young”

Band's seventh album will also be accompanied by new feature film
The band's seventh studio LP will be released on January 22, 2016. The LP, which will feature a full string section, was produced by the band's long-time collaborator Ed Buller and was recorded in London and Brussels.

The tracklisting of the album is as follows:
'When You Are Young'
'Outsiders'
'No Tomorrow'
'Pale Snow'
'I Don't Know How To Reach You'
'What I'm Trying To Tell You'
'Tightrope'
'Learning To Be'
'Like Kids'
'I Can't Give Her What She Wants'
'When You Were Young'
'The Fur & The Feathers'

Watch a teaser trailer for the album below.
The album will also be accompanied by a full-length feature film from NME photographer Roger Sargent. Both the album and the film will be premiered in two shows at London's Roundhouse on November 13 and 14, with the band set to play the LP in full while the film is shown behind them.
Speaking about the project, Sargent said: “Suede and I have crossed paths a few times over the years. I sneaked onstage for their ‘93 Glastonbury show to get photos for NME... more recently I was asked directly to do some of the photography for the last album.
"I was asked to pitch an idea for this film project... I really had no idea what they were wanting or expecting so I tried? to write in the least self-conscious way possible. It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. The film starts with a man drowning in the waters of a deserted beach at night, as he fights for life, his mind plays out the events that lead him to be there."
See a trailer for the film below.
Back in February, Suede picked up the Godlike Genius Award at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas. Speaking to NME about the band's legacy, Brett Anderson said: "I felt, before we reformed, that we’d gone off the radar a bit. And when we got back together we reminded people of what we did really well. I think there was a real re-evaulation of Suede as an artistic force."
He added: "With ‘Bloodsports’ (2013 comeback album), we tried to make it compete with our best ever work. It’s very hard doing a comeback album when you haven’t made an LP for 10 years, because you can’t reinvent yourself – you have to look at what you’ve done best and solidify that. But it sent out a statement that we can still make great music."
