Suede Online started originally in 1997 as a fan homepage on a obscure URL. Since 2000, the site has had a more professional approach and got its own domainname: suedeonline.com. Over the years, several hundreds of thousands people from nearly all countries in the world have visited the site.

Suede Online runs on a Windows IIS-server with a mySQL database as backend. The server is virtualized using VMWare and runs on hardware located in a secured CO2-neutral datacenter in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The site is 100% handcoded using Crimson Editor. All serverside scripting is ASP, all clientside scripting is Javascript and HTML. To improve the visitor experience, Ajax was used where appropriate. Flash was used to make audio and video clips available - no other plugins are required.

All website development was done on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop, using a bunch of handy tools including (but not limited to) Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Wavepad, FileZilla and Navicat for mySQL.

Testing has been done with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome and iPhone.
