Re: Suede VHS / Videos
Let's just say the only Bowie song I appreciate is Suffragette City...and then only when Steve Jones does it! ::Hides:: I thought I'd like Muse, because I was told they were like XTC. Then I heard Muse and remembered my conviction that if someone tells me that I'll love Band A because I like Band B,...

Re: Suede VHS / Videos
Mark, I'm not really a fan of any of those bands you listed...maybe why I haven't investigated modern music as much as I probably should... (Though if what you're saying's true, I'm not missing much!) Eh, re: G&R, I like what someone said at the Forever Delayed forums...the Manics rescue...

Re: Suede VHS / Videos
I used to be one of those "Music has sucked since the 60's" people. Then I heard the Sex Pistols and expanded my range to the 70's. Then I heard the Stone Roses and the Smiths and expanded it to the 80's. Then I heard Oasis and expanded it to the 90's. Shamefully pedestrian taste aside, al...

Re: Love & Poison
Why not a live album too? And Sci-Fi Lullabies Vol. 2? And other outtakes?
We should be so lucky.

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
Haha, ok, maybe The Living Dead comes really, really close (the Stay Together EP is pure class!!!). Nothing against The Two Of Us or Still Life, just that they don't touch me the way Europe does...maybe it's my sheltered life. :D And re: The Next Life, at least it's not as bad as These Are The Sad S...

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
Europe Is Our Playground is by far the most emotional song Suede (or Brett/Bernard solo) ever came up with, imvho. At least the remake is...I love the change-up at the end of the second chorus. It's one of those rare perfect moments that even great bands only have a few of. If I had to prove Suede's...

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
simple, heartfelt, touching, sad, beautiful... it carries so much emotion, yearning, desperation, a desire to escape... It sums up about every feeling of need to move on and do something different in your life - be with someone, go somewhere, move on from your past and of course the idea of seeing ...

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
...although I don't think a transition from Animal Lover into Still Life would really work, I'd be up for replacing The Next Life with...well, just about anything from that era except maybe The Big Time.
The debut's my favorite album, but man...I really don't like that song.

...after I heard Made Of Bricks, I couldn't believe that BB was the producer..."why's he wasting his time with this trash?" I remember thinking... That said, I'm actually sort of glad they split when they did; I don't think they could have gone any further than DMS...how the hell could you...

Re: how f'ing rude!!!!!
It might not be wise to admit that when I first saw the photos in the Coming Up booklet, I thought that Neil Codling had gone through something like that, a vampire encounter...sunshine wrote:it's better to look a bit sunkissed than as if some vampire had sucked all your blood!

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
Haha, Mark, he was one of those people who slagged off Coming Up because Brett decided to dress the gang up in black leather and to recruit two members whose primary experience with music was attending Suede gigs (yes, he actually used that "argument"!). It was amusing too, because one of ...

Re: Still Life; which version do you prefer?
...I read this book a while ago, with a title along the lines of "Britpop! The Demise of English Rock"...basically, the guy's theory was that everything Suede did after their first three singles was crap... He basically made DMS out to be this unqualified disaster, and his description of S...
