An evening with Suede in conversation with Ed Potton
Where: Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Ave, Soho, London W1D 5DY
When: Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start on Wednesday, December 12
Cost: Tickets cost £20
Join us on Wednesday, December 12 at Curzon Soho in London for an evening with Suede. Band members Brett Anderson, Mat Osman, Simon Gilbert, Richard Oakes and Neil Codling will be in conversation with Ed Potton, rock and pop editor of The Times.
Also on stage will be Mike Christie, the director of their new Sky Arts documentary Suede: The Insatiable Ones, which will be screened beforehand.
The film is a rollercoaster documentary that opens up the band's incredible personal archive. Ricky Gervais, Mike Joyce, Peter Saville, Richard Osman and others, tell Suede’s story with brutal honesty.
Pulling no punches, the documentary explores their roots and identity, the media frenzy that surrounded their first album, as well as the subsequent, infamous tensions that led to a major split within the group. Also explored are the international, critical and commercial achievements enjoyed by their reinvented line up with the 1996 album Coming Up, the impact of that success and subsequent excess, and ultimately their 2003 split and recent acclaimed rebirth.
The Blue Hour, their eighth studio album, is the third in a triptych of records since their reunion and was released in September 2018. It has become the group's highest charting record in two decades.
Doors open at 6.30pm and subscribers are invited to join us for a drink before a screening of Suede: The Insatiable Ones begins at 7pm. Following the screening will be a Q&A with the band.
