So what exactly are "sixteen hole boots"?

And while we're on the subject of lyrics, what's "have you ever tried it that way" refer to?

Ever tried it that way - erm yeah I guess that's something to do with gay sex - looks like arse licking in the backdrop film at the end of the song in the introducing the band film....!!!

Haha, that's what I figured, but there's nothing that explicitly spells it out, so it could have been any number of perverse (?) things.

I guess it refers very much to the lyrics before, but has this second "meaning" most refer to.

Well but you never know... I guess it has different meanings for everyone...

I always imagined them to be Doc Martens. I was obsessed with Doc Martens at the time though, so maybe I'm biased haha! All I wanted during my early teens was a pair of bloody Docs!, and my Dad wouldnt let me because he wanted me to look like a 'lady'.. :)

Yep you're right. DM's where sold accolding to lace holes. Can't remember whether they sold 16 holers. I'm guessing they would be the regular ankle boots

There are two schools:
* you count pairs of eyelets (and that's what DM uses), so 16-hole is almost knee-high
* you count the total number of eyelets, so it's half of above => 16-hole would be the classic just-above-ankle boot, which would be 8-hole in DM naming convention
