Exclusive: Suede talk 'noisy, unhinged and raw' tenth studio album
The band speak to Ben Burrell at Isle of Wight Festival

Suede’s Brett Anderson has exclusively told Absolute Radio listeners what to expect from the band’s tenth studio album.
Speaking to Ben Burrell backstage at Isle of Wight Festival on Saturday (22nd June) before their rip-roaring headline performance at the Big Top tent, Brett Anderson confirmed Suede have commenced recording the new album in the studio.
After waxing lyrical about their 2022 record ‘Autofiction’, Brett said: “We’re very excited about where we're going with the next record as well.
“We’ve started recording it. It’s gonna to be noisy. It's gonna to be strange. It's gonna be more desperate and neurotic than ‘Autofiction.’ It’s more unhinged, and, in a way, kind of like straighter and more honest. Lots of the subject matter is quite exposed and raw, and just sort of playing in lots of ways. There’s no poetry on it. It's just sort of like saying the way I feel about things.”
Asked by Ben what the new approach was born out of, Brett replied: “It’s just sort of like wanting to write in a different way really. Yeah, like lots of stuff I've done in the past, but sometimes I can be a bit veiled. You know, some of my writing can be a bit veiled and poetic, and that's not my favourite thing about my writing. Veiled poetry and those sorts of things work sometimes, but sometimes I quite like the kind of the rawness of just sort of saying how you feel about something.”
During their set at the Isle of Wight Festival, Suede gave a new track called ‘Antidepressants’ its live debut.
