Suede's Brett Anderson pens sequel to memoir
Katherine Cowdrey
Suede frontman Brett Anderson has written a follow-up to his memoir, Coal Black Mornings (Little, Brown), called Afternoons with the Blinds Drawn, to be published by Little, Brown next year.
The sequel will see an older Anderson tell the story of the heyday of Suede and his unique partnership with Bernard Butler and "unflinchingly" explore his relationship with addiction.
Richard Beswick, publisher at Little, Brown, bought world rights through Anderson’s literary agent Charlie Brotherstone, and the book will be published in the autumn of 2019.
Beswick said: "Brett Anderson’s honesty, [as someone] sharply self-aware and articulate, makes this a compelling autobiography, and a brilliant insight into one of the most significant bands of the last quarter century."
Coal Black Mornings has sold close to 7,500 copies in hardback via Nielsen BookScan since publication in March.
