What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
The Smiths have a song about a punctured bicycle. Echobelly talked about "the year when your bicycle broke." You could argue that a bicycle not being able to fly in "To The Birds" qualifies as some sort of defect (unless the defect is within the person who expects their bicycle to provide them with powers of flight).
Leave it to stoners XTC to sing about a bike ride to the moon.

I don't cycle, do you???...
Re: What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
I haven't had a bike since I was ten, but I'm seriously considering buying one. I'm going to live only a mile from school, but pedestrians aren't allowed on the roads!!!! It'll take an hour to get to class walking, the way I'd have to go...and there's a bus stop right by my place, but it'd be nice to be able to just go on my own...

Re: What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
Yes - it's the unreleased Suede song from 2000 that was recorded during the ANM sessions... They performed it once in 2000 at a festival in Iceland... The studio version is on ANM deluxe...
Re: What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
I don't exactly have the dough to buy that at this particular point in my life...

Re: What's the deal with broken bikes in British pop music?
Completely irrelevant: I was listening to "The It Girl," and there's a song in there about riding on her bicycle. And then there's the Sugarcubes song Motorcrash, but I'm not sure if they're all Icelandic, or just Bjork.
